Two hundred competitors are expected to brave the English Channel, 10 miles south of The Needles and Yarmouth, for the annual National Cod Fishing Championships.
A fleet of boats sails out of Yarmouth at 9am today, for the two day competition to catch the biggest fish. Organised by Islander Dave Stephenson and the West Wight Charter Skippers’ Association, boats are also drafted in from Portsmouth, Southampton and Poole.
