Ever thought about doing something a little out of the ordinary, a little wacky and more than a little unorthodox? Well the team from Street Sports have decided to put their wild idea into practice by skateboarding right around the coastal paths of the Isle of Wight, over three days.
They will be undertaking this arduous challenge on Long Boards which are quite different from standard skateboards, longer, wider and with very much larger wheels which allow them to cover the type of terrain inaccessible to standard boards. Tim Peters, Jon Steel, Moe Neve and Dan Shinnie have been into this fairly extreme sport for some years, and have decided to take on this challenge to help raise funds for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
Their route will be around 100km, starting from East Cowes, and stopping overnight in Shanklin on the Friday, and near the Needles on the Saturday, arriving in West Cowes on Sunday afternoon to catch the chain ferry back to the start point. The guys will be giving skateboard displays at various points along the route of their challenge which is on their website at
www.street-sports.blogspot.com. So why not meet up with them along the route and get involved, or perhaps sponsor them on their Just Giving page?
The challenge will start on Friday 17th Sept and finish on Sunday 19th Sept when they will be welcomed back by members of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance fundraising team.
