GCSE results on the Isle of Wight are rising, but they still lag behind the national average.

Carisbrooke High School is the star of the show this year, with an 11% rise in the number of students achieving five or more A* - C grades. The school achieved a 5 A* - C pass rate of 67% - that’s 1.3% above the national average. Overall, the number of Island students achieving five or more A* - C grades has risen 4% since last year, from 52.3% to 56.3% (still more than 10% behind the national average).  According to the provisional results, students’ attainment in English and Maths is dropping, however.  The number of students achieving five or more A* - C grades including the two core subjects has dropped, by 1.6% to 40.8%.
