The Isle of Wight Natural Therapies Trust has received £2,500 in funding, securing its future for another year.
The Trust offers complementary therapies such as Acupuncture, Homeopathy and Reflexology and has treated over 1,000 people since it was set up ten years ago. The grant from the Isle of Wight Community Fund will allow the Trust to continue to offer subsidised sessions to disadvantaged Islanders. “Despite the statistical evidence of need, there is little access to complementary therapy through the local NHS service” says Hugh Harrison, Hon Secretary of the Trust. “The treatments we offer can often provide more appropriate ways of tackling health problems where conventional medicine has been unable to help.”
In total 3 groups received a share of £6,087 at the latest Grassroots Grant panel, a government backed grant programme managed on the Island by the Isle of Wight Community Fund.
The Girls Venture Corps Air Cadets in Ryde were awarded £1,500 to provide archery equipment and training while the Newchurch Male Voice Choir will be looking smart at their next fundraising concert, thanks to a grant of £2,000 towards the cost of new uniforms.
