Dinosaur Isle, Sandown.
A new energy saving device installed at Isle of Wight council's Dinosaur Isle museum is reducing monthly bills by 11% resulting in an annual saving of over £3,000.
Voltage Optimisation Technology has been used to reduce the incoming electricity voltage from 245Volts to 220Volts with no reduction in quality or need to use plug adapters. The system installed in Dinosaur Isle is also expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 13.5 tonnes each year.
The system has been so effective both economically and environmentally, that Isle of Wight Council plans to install the system in more council buildings.
Peter Pusey, Manager of Dinosaur Isle said: "Since the energy saving device was installed at Dinosaur Isle we have had to make no changes to the way we use the electricity, all our appliances and lighting systems work just like they used to. The only thing we have noticed is a reduction in our monthly energy bills, which is great news."
Cllr Peter Bingham, Isle of Wight council cabinet member for resources said: "We are pleased to be able to install this technology which saves both money and carbon emissions. As part of our commitment to the eco-island vision we plan to install this technology in more council buildings following the success of the trial period at Dinosaur Isle."
