DON’T FORGET TO HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE FUTURE OF THE WATER ENVIRONMENT IN THE SOUTH EAST

The Environment Agency is reminding people that there is only one week left to comment on plans that aim to improve the whole of the water environment across the South East.

We need to take action now to protect and enhance rivers, lakes, estuaries, coastal waters and groundwater to provide us all with a clean and healthy environment fit for the 21 st century. Draft River Basin Management Plan for the South East River Basin District are invited from members of the public until Monday 22 June 2009.

James Farrell of the Environment Agency said: “We have involved hundreds of people so far in workshops about our water environment. However,
we still want to receive as many views on the plan as possible before the end of the consultation. This is a golden opportunity for people and organisations to work together to take action now to improve the quality of every aspect of the water environment in the south east for the future.”

Members of the public are encouraged to respond by using our online consultation on our website at www.environment-agency.gov.uk/wfd.
