Guided Ghost Tours Monday 25 October - Halloween, Sunday 31 October.
The pale face of a girl drowning in the castle well; transparent ladies noiselesslywalking their dogs on gravel that doesn't scrunch; loud footsteps approaching but belonging to no-one and doors slamming shut and locking themselves.
These are just some of the inexplicable happenings at Carisbrooke Castlewhich visitors can find out about in a series of ghost tours running during half term week.
The castle's long history stretching back over nine centuries has left a chilling imprint of spooky sightings and ghostly
goings-on, which will be revealed by knowledgeable
guides on tours taking in its haunted hotspots.
Suitable for children - and brave adults - the tours last 40 minutes and will be running at 10.20am, 11.20am, 1.20pm and 2.20pm from Monday 25 to Sunday 31 October.
Carisbrooke Castle's operational team love hearing new stories from visitors. "There is always excited anticipation of extra spiritual activity around Halloween," explained David Bailey, Visitor Operations Manager. "We already have a great catalogue of unexplained stories to tell, but we hope psychic conditions will be right for our ghostly residents during the tours, so that we can add some new ones to the mix."
Normal admission prices apply of just £7.00 for adults and £6.00 for concessions and £3.50 for children.
English Heritage members are admitted free.
Carisbrooke Castle is on Castle Hill in Newport (PO30 1XY) and is open daily from 10am-5pm.
