With just a few days to ‘the off’ at the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race on Saturday 19th June, the excitement and anticipation is palpable!

Cowes is ready and colourful and the shopkeepers and restaurants, bars and pubs are all gearing up to welcome the weekend crowds. At the Island Sailing Club (ISC) everything is in order. This is the 79th year that the Round the Island Race has been run by the ISC and they are ready and looking forward to the race with its 5am start.

Final entry numbers stand at 1754. In the huge fleet of yachts, many giant boats such as Bruno Peyron's maxi 120ft Cat 'Orange', Francis Joyon's 90ft Tri 'Idec', and Volvo 60 monohull racers are included.

Two more Extreme 40s have entered the race bringing the total entered to four. Joining Mike Golding aboard Ecover Extreme 40, and Team Metherell are Oman Sail, Masirah, skippered by Pete Cummings (this boat took Line Honours last year) and Oman Sail, The Wave, Muscat, skippered by Paul Campbell-James.

Island Sailing Club is grateful for the continued support of the 2010 Race Title Sponsor, J.P. Morgan Asset Management, and the 2010 Race Partners: Beneteau, Britannia Events, Haven Knox-Johnston, Nautica Watches, Old Pulteney Whisky, Raymarine, Red Funnel and Volvo Cars UK.

This 2010 Event will be J.P. Morgan Asset Management’s 6th year as title sponsor and they have just announced continuation of their title sponsorship up to and including 2012.
