The Venerable Peter Hancock
An Isle of Wight born-man is to become a Bishop, Downing Street has announced.
The Venerable Peter Hancock, Archdeacon of the Meon for 11 years, will become Bishop of Basingstoke – one of two assistant (or suffragan) bishops to the Bishop of Winchester. The 54 year old grew up in Ryde and Lake. He moved to Fareham when he was 11 years old. He was ordained as a priest 30 years ago and will be consecrated at St Paul’s Cathedral in September.
