BIG DAY OUT FOR OPENING OF GURNARD PLAY AREA

It was a big day out for Gurnard when the Village Green Play Area was opened on Monday 16 th November by members of the Gurnard Primary School Council who were accompanied by the rest of the school, parents, Village residents, representatives of the Parish Council and its Community Projects Committee.

The opening was the culmination of two years’ work including a consultation with 300 local young people from the Gurnard Pre-School, Gurnard Primary School and Solent Middle School who chose the playground equipment, giving a unique legacy to Gurnard.

Rusty Adams, Gurnard Parish Clerk said “When the ribbon was cut all the youngsters cheered so loudly it was quite moving - it is so gratifying to have completed a scheme that was so sought after in the Village and that has been so enthusiastically received".

The Gurnard Play Area project had a great deal of funding support locally, including LEADER (Isle of Wight) which has individual grants up to £50,000 available.
