The Island’s Young Chamber is organising a Movie Marathon for next month in memory of Islander and acclaimed director Anthony Minghella, who died last year. Actor Alan Rickman has already confirmed his attendance, and more celebrities are expected.
Organised by the Minghella family and the Island’s Young Chamber, in association with the British Film Institute, it will mark the first anniversary of Mr Minghella’s death. Over the weekend of 13 to 15 March, there’ll be screenings of Anthony’s best loved films, including The English Patient and Truly Madly Deeply. A gala reception on 14 March, at Medina Theatre, which offers the chance to mix with some of the stars of his films, and some of the crew who worked closely with Anthony throughout his distinguished career. A limited number of £50 ‘Stardust tickets’ are being released, which would guarantee you a place at the gala event.
