Wight Party, British Microlight, Spamfield 2006
Last weekend between the 16th to 18th June saw the British Microlight Aircraft Association’s biggest UK microlight fly-in at Sandown Airport. This official BMAA sanctioned event was organised by The Wight Party founder John Groves www.wightparty.org
Spamfield 2006 enabled hundreds of Microlight pilots to gather together at Sandown airfield for the BMAA annual Fly-In and this year's biggest ever party. For all enthusiasts young and old there was a weekend full of entertainment with Flying, Party, Karaoke, Food, Bar and Camping and from what was observed possibly the best and biggest Wight Party there had been in the six years duration. The weekend was a great success, mainly due to the air marshals and marine volunteers being on hand to help and assist all who attended and the consensus was by many of the Pilots leaving on Sunday afternoon was they would definitely be back next year. It looks as if “Spamfield and the Isle of Wight in 2007 is going to be just the Wight place to Party”.
