A feast of literary genius will entertain Islanders, from Monday. The Wight Words festival runs until 15 October. The launch events takes place on Monday, with a chance for writers and directors to pitch their short film ideas to a panel of industry experts. The best idea will be rewarded. It's being held at Newport's Quay Arts Centre (PICTURED), between 2-5pm.

Highlights from the rest of the festival include a stand-up comedy gig by Dominic Holland and a song writing masterclass, by Ivor Novello Award winner and IW Festival veteran Ralph McTell.
