
The Park Centre on course for groups and classes
Following its Launch on the 25th April, the new Park Centre, in High Park Road, Ryde is already expanding into a thriving Community Centre. The Computer Learning Suite and Internet Café will now be attached to a real Café serving lunches, tea and coffee every weekday between 12–4pm..
The Centre is open weekdays between 9am. and 5pm. “If you have any ideas or suggestions about what classes you would like us to establish, pop in and let us know” said Chris Hughes, the Centres Activities Organiser “If others show an interest we will endeavour to provide that class for you”.
New attractions that are starting during May are courses including Art for Beginners, Intermediate Art, Poetry Reading and Appreciation, Keep Fit for the Unfit, Introduction to Computers and Digital Imaging. The Digital Imaging course is aimed at people who want to get the best results from their digital cameras and software and is being run in conjunction with the Island Photography Centre of Ryde & Newport. Barry Kemp the Project Manager said “We are delighted that the users have asked us to provide these courses and thanks to a link up with the IW Council’s Culture & Leisure Services, Adult & Community Learning, we are able to”.
Plans have been drawn up to convert, subject to funding, another part of the premises creating a games room, complete with pool table, office space and a meeting/lecture room.
