The IoW Randonnee 2006

The 22nd Isle of Wight Randonnee takes place today between 9am to 6pm.Traveling in a Clockwise Direction around the Island Cyclists have a choice of 100km and 55km rides.

The IoW Randonnee was established by the Wayfarers in 1985 Cycle Touring Club (IoW)
No entry fee, no need to pre-register, starting at any of the checkpoints.
the Randonnee is not set up as a charitable event but as a free entry event. However, the organisers support participants who wish to use the Randonnee as a means of raising money for a good cause. All they ask is that the Randonnee is acknowledge in any press release, and that you inform them of your achievement.

A route around the whole of the Isle of Wight mainly following the Round-the-Island cycle route and takes minor roads and lanes where possible. It is way-marked by white cycle on blue island signs. Each cyclist is given a Round-the-Island cycle route map with easy to follow directions to enable the rider to see the best of the Island scenery.

55km Randonnee Clockwise around the eastern half of the Island, using part of the round the Island Route. JOIN AT ANY OF THE CHECKPOINTS at East Cowes, Wotton, Bembridge or Alverstone

The refreshments will be provided by the PTAs of Bembridge and Yarmouth schools. Riders will be able to purchase ‘soup and a roll’, a variety of sandwiches and delicious cakes together with cups of tea etc. All participants completing the 100km Randonnee or the 55km Randonnee will receive a Randonnee certificate.


The Wayfarer Cycle Touring Club (IoW) cannot accept responsibility for injury to or losses from any participant. Cyclists are reminded that this is a fun event and not a race.
