The Battery Hen Welfare Trust
Due to being let down by a few unreliable people we have 10 ex battery hens
from a rescue we did last Sunday who are feeling abandoned and wondering
where their new home is going to be!
The Battery Hen Welfare Trust are a registered charity who rescue hens at
point of slaughter in agreement with the farmer. We support British Farming
but would like to see a move to more welfare friendly methods.
These 10 hens could go as an existing flock or as two smaller ones. They
would need their own accommodation for a couple of weeks before being introduced
to any other hens or a cockeral so they can get strong again. They are doing
well and about 60% of them are still laying. No guaranttee that they will
lay forever but a sure guaranttee that they will give immense pleasure as
you see them blossom into fully fathered beautiful girls with amazing personalities.
We ask a minimum donation of 50p per hen as we have to pay that to the farmer
but we willingly accept more as obviously costs are high for the charity
with no financial government support.
These hens have been here a week already and really do need their new home
now!
Please ring asap if you know anyone who can offer them a home! Thanks!
