A scheme to bring poetry to the Island’s buses has scooped an award. Organised by the Island 2000 Trust and bus operator Southern Vectis, the initiative has been named Arts & Business ‘Best Community Project’ for the south east. Daniel Roberts, from the Island 2000 Trust, says “People love to come across poems while travelling…and it gives local writers an unusual way of sharing their work with the public.” Now, more poems will be displayed inside the Isle of Wight’s fleet of buses and others have been cast as bronze plaques and can be seen at bus stops.
