THREE EDUCATION PROPOSALS WILL GO TO CONSULTATION
Public consultation on three options for the future of Island education will start in the New Year. Isle of Wight Councillors last night ratified a decision by the cabinet to develop three Options 1,2 and 3.

They are:-
1 - All post-14 learning centres will be run under a single leadership and governance. Year 9 will be retained in middle schools.
2 - Ages 4 - 11 schools will be established with a minimum of two classes per year group. A mix of 11 - 16 and 11 - 19 secondary schools will be established.
3 - Ages 4 - 11 schools will be established with a mixture of one and two classes per year group. A mix of 11 - 16 and 11 - 19 secondary schools will be established.

A fourth was rejected by members. The new scheme would not be implemented until September 2010 at the earliest. A final decision will be made in March.
