A group of Somerfield colleagues are aiming high with their latest charity fund-raising effort. On April 23rd, three members of staff at the Ryde store – Mary Long, Jenny Manning and Laura
Sinfield, along with Sharon Hannam from Somerfield’s Newport store, travelled to Salisbury, with workmates and friends, to take part in a sponsored sky dive to raise money for the Naomi House children’s hospice. They made the leap in tandem with an
experienced, qualified skydiver.

The event is the latest in a string of fund-raising activities, including sponsored silences, walks and a regular car boot sale at Somerfield in Ryde, which have been organised by a determined group of workmates, led by checkout supervisor Margaret Brine.

Since April last year, their efforts for Naomi House, which cares for a number of Island children and relies entirely on voluntary and charitable support, have already raised nearly £5000. Over the past decade, Margaret and colleagues have raised tens of thousands of pounds for various charities including St Mary’s children’s ward and special care baby unit and the Earl Mountbatten Hospice.
