SHIRLEY ROBERTSON MISSES OUT ON OLYMPIC PLACE

Isle of Wight yachtswoman Shirley Robertson's missed out on the place in the British sailing team at next year's Olympics in Beijing. The Royal Yachting Association announced on Tuesday that Sarah Webb, Sarah Ayton and Pippa Wilson will instead contest the Yngling class. On her website, the double Olympic Gold medal winner and mum of twins says, "I am very sad and disappointed following today's decision by the RYA...Having had just 8 months preparation for the World Championships I truly believe we haven't had the chance to prove ourselves in the crucial Olympic year...I believe the RYA has taken the easy decision. Anything less than a gold medal in the Yngling class at next year's Olympics will leave questions unanswered about the RYA's selection process." Shirley Robertson say she spend the near future racing Extreme 40s, working as a broadcaster and spending time with her children.
