Rolling Stones at Seaclose Park

SEXAGENARIANS TO ROCK SEACLOSE

Rock Giants the Rolling Stones will be rolling into Seaclose Park, Newport in June to play the Isle of Wight Festival. They will close the event with a live set on Sunday 10th June during their European Tour.
It will be the Stones’ first U.K. Festival appearance since Knebworth in 1976. They are no strangers to the Island, however, having played Ryde Pavilion in 1964. In fact Ronnie's brother once ran a pub on the Island.
With 52 Hit Singles to their name, their first "Come On" entered the chart in July 1963. During the sixties they racked up eight number ones and have totalled 21 Top Ten hits.
Their album success is even more impressive. They can boast ten number ones between 1964 and 1994 from a total of 44 Hit Albums- only ten did not reach the top ten!
Mick was honoured in 2002, joining Cliff Richard, Elton John and Paul McCartney as a musical Knight. When The Stones play Seaclose Charlie will be 66, Mick and Keith 63 and Ronnie 60. What an example to prove age is no barrier.
