The latest Ofsted inspection report for Holy Cross Catholic Primary School, East Cowes, states that the school provides a good standard of education for its pupils.
Many outstanding features are detailed in the report, including pupils’ personal development and well-being, and the school’s care, guidance and support. Pupils achieve well and standards overall are well above average, teaching and learning, the curriculum, and leadership and management are all classed as good, and governors are extremely supportive of the work of the school.
The Headteacher, Martin Lee, has set a very clear direction for the school, boosted its popularity and worked diligently to regain the strong support of parents in both the local and Catholic communities.
Exemplary behaviour and very positive attitudes contribute to pupils’ success in school. They enjoy their lessons and the opportunities offered through the enriched curriculum.
Headteacher, Martin Lee, is delighted with the report: “This is a just reward for a fantastic team effort of staff, governors and parents who have helped to create an atmosphere where pupils love to come to school, enjoy their time here, work and behave extremely well and achieve high standards.”
Chair of Governors, Nigel Blair, added: “We are extremely pleased with the report, it was reassuring that the inspection confirmed our belief that Holy Cross is providing a first class education for the children from both East and West Cowes parishes.”
Councillor Patrick Joyce, Cabinet Member for Education, Skills and Learning said: “This is marvellous news. In 1999 the school was suffering from a falling roll and was under threat of closure. Now the school is thriving thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Headteacher, staff and Governors.”
