New Island Colouring Book on the way

Following the great success of the first 'Brilliant Wight Colouring Book' for children, a second one is being planned by the Isle of Wight Council's Art Unit to once more celebrate the talent of Island artists.

The new book is themed 'Island Landmarks and Buildings', and Island artists, sketchers, cartoonists and doodlers are invited to submit their interesting, inspiring and quirky images.

Images for 'Island Landmarks and Buildings' need to be suitable for children to colour in, appealing to local and visiting children and contribute to a 'sense of place'.

The choice is open for artists to draw the smallest cameo or grandest vista and be inspired by buildings they find beautiful or ugly.

Drawings can be old, new, representative or abstract, well known or off the beaten track. Just a few places for inspiration include: Quay Arts, Winkle Street, Carisbrooke Castle, Dimbola Lodge, The Pepperpot, Appledurcombe House, St Catherines Lighthouse, Dinosaur Isle, Quarr Abbey, Brading Roman Villa and Osbourne House.

Drawings should be black and white in any style: sketch, cartoon, line, loose, realistic, abstract, computer generated graphics, and no larger than A4. All submissions need to be received by 31 January 2007.

There will be no payment to the artist as all proceeds from the sale of the book offset printing costs. Not all submissions will be successful and artists need to provide a SAE to ensure that the organisers can return drawings.
