NEW GREEN LOOS ARE NO FLASH IN THE PAN

Four new public toilets on the Isle of Wight are to be among the greenest in the UK. They will replace existing facilities in Yaverland, Brading, Wootton and Ventnor, by Spring 2008. The IW Council says the scheme will cost more than £1 million pounds, but the facilities will boast cutting-edge clean green technology. The new loos will have wind turbines to generate power, planted rooves (similar to the one at Brading Roman Villa), solar panels and they will recycle rainwater when they are flushed. The local authority says people using the new toilets will be able to spend a penny but save the planet!
