More new stores for Newport

Three more new stores are set to open in Newport shortly.

Sited on the Wakes Retail Park off Medina Way, the three new stores complete the new development which houses the Wakes Megastore and car parking as well as the new shops.

Landscaping of the area has taken place and a new footpath has been constructed forming a much more tidy entrance to this part of the town.

First to open its doors to the public on Friday 23rd February is the new “Currys”, which houses more stock then ever before on the Island for this national retailer. It was just a move across the road for this firm who have had a store in Newport for several years.

Opening on Saturday 24th, and with special party days on this day and Sunday 25th hosted by I.W. Radio, is “Pets at Home”. New to the Island, this national chain with “everything for the pet” is situated in the middle of the three new stores and will be officially opened by Island High Sheriff Peter Grimaldi. Town Crier Shirley Ballard will also be attending the opening. Wakes Megastore are offering the chance of a £50 voucher to spend at Wakes to “Pets at Home” customers.

Nearest to Wakes Megastore is PC World. Again new to the Island, this large store will have not only everything for the computer buff but office equipment, the latest in televisions and much more.

New jobs for more than 30 Islanders have been created at PC World and an Islander will soon be appointed as store manager. The company believes that locals know what products and services fellow locals want. A business to business centre has been created within the store so that any problems with office equipment, including any problems with computers or computer systems can be dealt with as soon as possible. There will also be a repairs centre.

It is planned that PC World will open on March 3rd. Look out for special opening deals.
