The Isle of Wight’s very own leading lady, Laura Michelle Kelley, has been talking about her new film project. The twenty-something, with a host of West End and Broadway performances under her belt, is starring in Tim Burton’s forthcoming musical film “Sweeny Todd”. Speaking on BBC Radio Two, she has revealed that Burton is “passionate about music” and that her co-star, heart-throb Johnny Depp “can really sing”. Helena Bonham Carter also stars in the film which is expected to be released later this year. Until then Laura is busy on stage at the Theatre Royal, on London’s Drury Lane, where she is playing Galadriel in “The Lord of The Rings”. She is also reported to be writing a follow-up pop album to her debut The Storm Inside”, which was released last year. When she has some spare time, will she be watching her own big break on the big screen? Err…no. “I don’t think I’ll watch myself”, she told BBC presenter Elaine Paige, “There’s always something that makes you think…Why did I do that?”. Because you will be great, Laura.
