This Saturday (4th) sees the first ever visit of the South of England Northern Ireland Supporters Club to the Isle of Wight.

The event is set to take place in Cowes – home of committee member Alex Higgins – and is open to all Island residents, with those with a Northern Irish history or background particularly encouraged to attend.

Commencing at 10.59am outside of the Painters Arms on Cross Street, the meeting will consist of club updates and a speech from special guest Shaun Schofield, who has just released a book detailing his experiences of following Northern Ireland all over the world for 11 years. Somewhat less formally, organisers promise a day of dancing, drinking and singing, with the famed Irish party spirit set to take Cowes by storm.

Since its formation in 2005, the club has held regular meetings around the South Coast, and currently has 29 members. The theme of the club’s day on the island – their first ever meeting away from the English mainland – is ‘The Isle of Green’, with all members dressing in green.
