ISLE OF WIGHT FESTIVAL- ALL SYSTEMS GO-SUZANNE & ALAN WHITEWOOD.
SEACLOSE PARK WILL BE THE VENUE TO BE OVER THE WEEKEND OF 8/9/10 JUNE FOR THIS YEAR’S ISLE OF WIGHT FESTIVAL.
WITH TICKETS SOLD OUT MONTHS AGO THE EXPECTED 50.000 FANS WILL NOT ONLY PACK THE PARK BUT THE SURROUNDING AREA OF NEWPORT.
IT IS ONE OF THE “MUST DO” EVENTS ON THE ISLAND AND WITH THE ROLLING STONES TOPPING THE BILL AND OTHER ACTS ACROSS THE AGE SPAN, INCLUDING DONOVAN, IT SHOULD PROVE POPULAR WITH EVERYONE.
It will be the Stones’ first U.K. Festival appearance since Knebworth in 1976. They are no strangers to the Island, however, having played Ryde Pavilion in 1964. In fact Ronnie's brother once ran a pub on the Island.
With 52 Hit Singles to their name, their first "Come On" entered the chart in July 1963. During the sixties they racked up eight number ones and have totalled 21 Top Ten hits.
Their album success is even more impressive. They can boast ten number ones between 1964 and 1994 from a total of 44 Hit Albums- only ten did not reach the top ten!
This year’s festival line up boasts the best of British, with headline performances by the biggest selling band of 2006, Snow Patrol and Best Live Act Brit Award winners Muse on Friday and Saturday respectively. Kings of the rock ‘n’ roll scene Kasabian will appear as special guests on the Saturday, whilst GQ’s Band of the Year Keane will wow the crowd as they take to the stage as special guests on Sunday.
Also appearing throughout the weekend are Best British Female Brit Award winner Amy Winehouse, Best British Male Brit Award winner James Morrison, Best British Breakthrough Brit Award winners The Fratellis plus Ash and a host of the hottest newcomers around including Paolo Nutini, Wolfmother and The Feeling.
