ISLAND YOUNG PEOPLE GO WILD FOR READING
Nearly 2000 children have completed this year’s summer reading challenge, at libraries across the Isle of Wight. Their hard work was rewarded, on Saturday, with a prize-giving ceremony at Newport’s Lord Lois library. This year, the theme was the Big Wild Read. In partnership with the Woodland Trust, 100 trees were planted (one for every 25 children who joined the scheme). The reading scheme also encouraged nearly 200 hundred young people to join the library for the first time.
