The Isle of Wight Healthy Eating Alliance has been recognised for promoting healthy eating habits by a national awards body.
The Island group triumphed in the ‘Community Groups’ category in the award ceremony organised by the Caroline Walker Trust at a presentation in London earlier this month.
The Caroline Walker Trust is a scheme dedicated to the improvement of public health through good food. Established in 1988 to continue the work of the distinguished nutritionist, writer and campaigner Caroline Walker, the Trust is a charity which undertakes specific projects, funded by grants and donations, and recognises local food authorities who do remarkable work for their community.
This award can in part be attributed to the partnership approach across all sectors that makes the Island’s attitude to food and health exemplary, and is a tremendous boost for those working to make the Island a healthier place to live.
