Farmyard festivities at Three Gates

At a recent Charity Auction held at The Royal Yacht Squadron, Three Gates
Farm successfully auctioned their 1st Farm Experience Day. Including 3 seasonal Calbourne Classics Hampers and the chance to be a 'Farmer For The Day', the event raised over for over £250 for Cowes Inshore Life Boat.

Anne Preston from Cowes was overjoyed to win the bidding and remarked that she couldn't wait to send her husband - wellies and all - on a real agricultural experience, while she enjoys the award winning delights of Calbourne Classics in her first hamper this month. Anne is soon to visit the farm to receive her wares, which will include the latest Christmas special ice cream, Plumb & Brandy.

Three Gates is pleased to announce that from the success of this event they
have launched 'Farm Experiences', the first of which will commence on Monday 18th December when children have the opportunity to meet 'Farmer Christmas' in the calf shed between 1pm and 4pm daily until Friday 22nd December. The visit includes spending time with the new born Christmas calves, so if you are intersted please pre-book (531204) to ensure only small groups are with the new born calves at one time.

Shalfleet Little Explorers Pre-School will be enjoying the new experiences offered by their local farm. THeir visit on the 19th won't only be to visit Farmer Christmas, but to also meet their own newly born, adopted heifer calf. Three Gates have commenced an Adopt a Calf scheme which allows children the opportunity to adopt a calf and receive a monthly update about its progression.

Jill Cawood, Proprietor said "I really feel these experiences allow us to
communicate what's going on in the agricultural industry, especially since
the recent drop in milk prices paid to farmers by supermarkets".

Three Gates has recently commenced direct sales of milk from the only Freedom Food Accredited herd on the Island. The milk can be bought either at Three Gates from their newly opened Farm Shop, or alternatively at Farmer Jack's Farm Shop, Arreton. Those who want to see dairy herds on the Island
still in business and who like to help the environment by keeping food miles low should get down to Shalfleet and Arreton for their milk supplies this Christmas!
