FULL STEAM AHEAD FOR "WORLD'S SMALLEST PADDLE STEAMER"
An unusual vessel has steamed her way to the Isle of Wight. A 9 tonne pleasure boat, licensed for just 12 people, is moored at Island Harbour (between East Cowes and Newport, on the River Medina). Monarch is being lovingly restored by her two new owners, who have brought her to the Island from Kent. Reputed to be the world’s smallest passenger Paddle Steamer, she is just 42ft long. Joint owner Matthew O’Crowley told the IW Beacon online that his plans include private cruises, appearances at Cowes Week, and a Christmas Grotto. Monarch will be officially launched in March.
