Dog Walking Accolade for IW

Fort Victoria at Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight has been named in a top ten list of favourite dog walking spots in the UK.

The Good Dog Campaign has named Fort Victoria in a list for 2006 which covers parks, commons, woodland and beaches.

Other top ten locations in the south can be found in Hampshire, East Sussex, Surrey and Devon, while in the Midlands and northern England sites in Lancashire, Staffordshire and Leicestershire have been highlighted.

Also named is Oxford Island, at Lough Neagh in Northern Ireland and a coastal park in Llanelli, Wales.

The top ten list was compiled from nominations made by dog wardens across the UK – with entries judged on location, scenery and family-friendly facilities.

Wendy Mardle of the Good Dog Campaign, said: "We really hope this will encourage more families, whether they own a dog or not, to make the most of this free, healthy and educational family activity."
