Debbie scaling heights for charity

An Island woman is preparing for the adventure of a lifetime when she goes trekking on the Inca Trail.

Debbie Noott, 32, of Northwood, is set to undergo the massive challenge to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society, who looked after her late grandmother until she passed away in October 2005.

Miss Noot will be joining around 60 walkers on the epic journey, which will see them trekking for up to 12 hours a day at high altitude.

The Inca Trail is a complex series of road systems in Peru, South America, which traverse the Andes mountains and reach heights of over 5,000m above sea level. There are many well-preserved ruins along the way, while incredible views and fascinating landscapes should keep Miss Noot’s spirits high on her trek later this year.

In an act which sees the Alzheimer’s Society’s selfless work replicated, Miss Noot is financing the trip herself, ensuring all funds raised go to charity. She hopes to raise well over £1,600 by 2nd March, and has already been helped out by kind donations from numerous Island businesses.
