Two of the headliners for the Isle of Wight Festival 2007 were announced on Monday. Snow Patrol, the biggest selling band of 2006, will return once again to Seaclose park to top Friday’s bill, while Brit Award winners Muse will take to the stage in Saturday’s headline slot.
These two huge names in music are sure to wow seasoned fans at the festival, and will also be hoping to convert newcomers to their respective styles. Formed in 1994, Snow Patrol have developed an alternative rock sound in recent years on the heels of mainstream success with the songs "Run" and "Chasing Cars. Similarly, Muse have amassed a huge fanbase in their 15 years together, and their blend of progressive rock and heavy metal is set to go down a storm at June’s festival.
Elsewhere, plenty more top quality acts have also been confirmed for the Isle of Wight Festival, now in its sixth year. Music fans everywhere will be excited to hear that rock and roll darlings Kasabian will play as special guests on the Saturday, while Keane will wow the 50,000 strong crowd in a similar role on Sunday night.
Also appearing throughout the weekend are Best British Female Brit Award winner Amy Winehouse, Best British Male Brit Award winner James Morrison and Best British Breakthrough Brit Award winners The Fratellis. They will also be joined by Ash, as well as a host of the hottest newcomers around including Paolo Nutini, Wolfmother and The Feeling. Further announcements, including news of Sunday’s headliners, are expected soon.
The announcement comes as welcome news for festival fans who had become bemused at the lack of prior confirmation of bands, leading some to even question whether the event was going ahead.
The Isle of Wight Festival is taking place from the 8th – 10th June, with tickets going on sale on Thursday 22nd February.
