Breaking and Entering at Medina Theatre

This Friday Medina Theatre saw a gala screening of Anthony Minghella’s latest Hollywood offering, Breaking and Entering.

The event, organised in aid of the IW Motor Neurone Disease Association, showcased Ryde born Minghella’s modern drama starring Jude Law and Juliette Binoche. A tale of emotional and criminal thefts, the film follows Will (Law) on a passionate journey into the wilder side of both himself and the city.

Filmed on location in London and at Elstree Studios during the summer of 2005, Breaking and Entering is Academy Award and Oscar-winning director Minghella's first original screenplay to be produced since his 1991 feature debut, Truly Madly Deeply. Since then he has also go on to direct The English Patient, The Talented Mr Ripley and Cold Mountain, providing great entertainment for Islanders, and people the world over.

At the fundraising event at Medina Theatre, Minghella gave a speech prior to the screening of the film, which opened nationwide last week. Breaking and Entering is set to be one of the big films in the run up to Christmas, and those who attended the event will no doubt feel privileged to have experienced the film in the presence of an Minghella, a truly iconic Island figure.
