Environment Agency officers will be out in force over the bank holiday weekend, patrolling Island river banks and lakes. They will be checking rod licenses, because all of them expired on 31 March. For 2007/2008 a full season coarse and trout fishing licence costs £24.50 and a salmon and sea trout licence costs £66.50 and they can be bought at post offices. If you are caught without one you could have to pay a fine of up to £2,500 and may be banned from fishing.
