A combination of high winds, heavy rain and spring tides have been playing havoc on the Isle of Wight.  Here are some of the pictures from the day. Send us yours to lucy@iwbeacon.com.

Cross-Solent travel was affected as extremely high spring tides made berthing difficult.  Worst affected was the ferry terminal at Yarmouth, where flood water forced many passengers to remain on board one Wightlink sailing and car passengers were unable to disembark.  Meanwhile, a tanker had to be towed to Fawley after running aground off Bembridge.  The floating bridge, between Cowes and East Cowes, was also suspended for a time.

A number of trees have also fallen, like this one in Bembridge which narrowly missed a car.  Flood warnings were out in place for the Island's coastline, but had been lifted by Monday evening.  Strong Gale Force 9 (48 mph) gusts were measured in Newport.
