Cheese Puff Pastry Bite Recipe
December Recipe from The Real Island Food Company
Winter and Christmas in particular is a wonderful time for meltingly warm cheesy bites. These are just perfect for a lunchtime nibble or tasty party canapé. They are easy to assemble and cook! This recipe uses Isle of Wight cheese handmade from Queen Bower Dairy, Alverstone, and cranberry sauce from The Village Nursery at Whitwell.
Ingredients:
Pack of ready-made puff pasty vol au vent cases.
(3 – 4 cases per person)
1 IW Cheese Company - Soft
1 IW Cheese Company - Blue
1 jar Village Nursery Cranberry Sauce
2 English pears
All available from The Real Island Food Company: www.realislandfood.co.uk or: 731778
Method: Preheat oven to 180°.
On a baking tray layout your puff pasty cases. Fill half with a teaspoon of cranberry sauce in each and top with a slice of IW soft cheese.
Peel and core the pears and chop into approx 1cm sq pieces. Put 3–4 chunks of pear into each remaining pastry case and top with a small slice of blue cheese. Grind a little sea salt and fresh pepper over the bites.
Bake in the oven for 12–15 minutes.
For a starter lay out 2–3 cases on a small plate per person, with a selection of salad leaves. Enjoy!
