Whippingham Association News

January's entertaining talk by Arthur Reader of the Postal Museum with his display of postal memorabilia, will be followed on the evening of Wednesday 29th February by Ray Wheeler who will introduce the showing a DVD about the Black Knight Rockets followed by a question and answer session. As Chief Designer for BHC, Ray was the Leader of the Design Team for this important project in the late 1950's. We are sure there are many local people who will be interested to learn about this significant piece of Island history. As usual, the door opens at 7.00 pm for a 7.30 start, admission is only £1 and refreshments are available.
At their last meeting The Management Committee discussed the necessity of a maintenance programme for the Community Hall and a "House" sub-committee has been formed to look at and arrange any refurbishment and repairs required.
Plans for future social events and entertainments are also being considered by the Association. These include celebrations for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Offers of help from residents with a little bit of time to volunteer would be appreciated; as would be the generation of new ideas and input into Community activities. We are always ready to welcome new people and if you need a little bit more information you can speak to Madi at Whippingham Post Office when she has a quiet moment.
Finally, don't forget the Hall is available to hire for birthday parties and club or group activities. Again Madi can give advice.
