AUTISM CHARITY CELEBRATES LAUNCH OF LOCAL SUPPORT GROUP
- The Isle of Wight branch of the National Autistic Society (NAS) is launching a local Cowes support group for parents and carers of children and adults with autism on Tuesday 22nd September at Cowes Children’s Centre. The group, which will be opened by IW council leader Cllr David Pugh, is the first in what the branch hope will be a network of much needed support across the island.

DETECTIVES CHARGE MAN WITH MURDER ON THE ISLE OF WIGHT
- The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorised detectives from Hampshire Constabulary’s Isle of Wight CID to charge a man yesterday (Wednesday, September 23, 2009) with the murder of Richard Andrew Ball.

RECYCLE THE ISLAND 2009 is a FREE, fun cycling event taking place on the Isle of Wight on Sunday 27th September to generate public awareness of the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance charity and their textile recycling schemes in partnership with Bag It Up Ltd.

Entrants who raise at least £50 in sponsorship for the charity will be entered into a PRIZE DRAW to win a flight in a helicopter with one to one tuition, plus lots of other prizes.

RIDICULOUS BAN ON LIGHT BULBS
- From the 1st September, shops will no longer be able to buy in 100 watt incandescent light bulbs, although present inventories can be sold until they run out. The commission intends to phase out all incandescent bulbs by 2012 but concerns have been raised that energy-saving light bulbs can be impractical, and they can exacerbate health conditions.

- A lady walking on the cliffs at Milford on Sea last week has reason to be very grateful to The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. She had fallen down the cliff and required urgent medical attention, so the Air Ambulance was called and was on the scene in minutes.
