Won’t get fooled again! The Who tribute band is a sell out!

“Who’s who” were all set to pay a fitting tribute to rock legends and Mod gods the Who on the first evening of the Bank holiday weekend. They were all let down by a combination of factors which led me to realise why the genuine article were at times so keen to demolish their instruments. Poor acoustics plus a reverberating bass denied the band and their fans what could have been an excellent evening. It had its compensations and was enjoyed by a sell out crowd.

Island Boys Contribute to International Success

The three boys from the Isle of Wight chosen in the England Dragonslayers under 14 Aussie Rules football team all made valuable contributions to the team success in winning the inaugural “King Canute Cup” played in Copenhagen on Sunday 17th September.

Pirates and Treasure are the theme for this year’s 38th Southampton Boat Show held in Mayflower Park. For the official opening on Friday 15th September the Jubilee Sailing Trust’s tall ship “Lord Nelson” was the centre of attraction.

75th Anniversary Schneider Cup

The world’s fastest air race returned to the Isle of Wight on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd September when the 75th Anniversary Schneider Cup touched down at Bembridge Airport. The race, sponsored by Breitling Watches and the Isle of Wight Council was hosted by Britten Norman Aircraft Group, the last UK manufacturer of aeroplanes.
