Police can confirm Rebecca Chiverton and Samuel Guy, two teenagers reported missing, were found safe and well by officers in the Ryde area of the Isle of Wight this evening (Thursday, October 29, 2009).

Two men were charged by police on October 22, 2009 with engaging in a commercial practice which was misleading, and failing to notify a consumer of their right to cancel a contract, after a joint investigation with Isle of Wight Council’s Trading Standards Service into suspected rogue traders.

CYCLIST RAISES OVER £200 FOR ISLE OF WIGHT ZOO

When Tristan Beard decided to help out the Isle of Wight Zoo, he set himself an impressive challenge – to cycle the South Downs Way. Running from Winchester to Eastbourne, the route is a nationally famous bridleway covering 103 miles of chalk downland. Most dauntingly, the route contains 11,700 feet of ascending track – equivalent to cycling three times the height of Snowdon!

At 8.45am on Sunday the 27th September, cyclists started turning up at Tesco Ryde to sign in for Recycle The Island 2009, all in aid of the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance! Many of the cyclists had managed to raise significant amounts of money. Early totals are suggesting that so far £3,000 has been raised for this fantastic life-saving charity.
