Popworld tour sails to the Island
- A top class music event is set to wow islanders next month as the Popworld Promotes “The Music They Should Play On The Radio” Tour comes to Ryde. The event will host an array of exceptional unsigned music talent and will also be featured on the newly launched Popworld Radio, which broadcasts through the channel 4 website.

Joy for Johnny in Surf Championships
- A young island surfer had great cause for celebration this weekend when he helped the British Open Surfing Team take ninth place in a world surfing competition. 22 year old Johnny Fryer, who began surfing at the age of six on Compton beach, played a key part in the success, and revelled in the event seen as the ‘Olympics of Surfing’.

Bestival by name
- The Bestival has won a prestigious award in the highly acclaimed UK Festival Awards 2006. Receiving the prize for ‘best medium to large festival’, the Robin Hill based event was recognised for its unique and innovative atmosphere as well as its eclectic line up, consisting of international stars and an array of up and coming bands and DJs.

Interactive shipyard exhibition docks in Cowes
- A Cowes shipyard that made a huge impact on the industrial life of the Isle of Wight, and built some of this country’s finest warships and commercial vessels, is the subject of the latest exhibition by Cowes Heritage, from 21 October to 12 November.

50 Years - and still going strong!
- What better way to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award than with a 50K walk. Planned by Carol Taverner I.W. Council D of E Development Officer four groups of participants in the scheme, together with leaders, hiked from four different starting points on the Island to Newport.

New IOW Jazz Youth Orchestra set to be launched
- IOW Jazz are very pleased to announce that plans have been formalized with Platform One in Newport to launch a brand new IOW Jazz Youth Orchestra. One of the remits for the IOW Jazz charity is to promote the education of young people in jazz music and this new project will be led by Platform One, with IOW Jazz fundraising events providing aspects of support at different points.

Podium finish for College girls
- At 0650 on Saturday 3rd June, the only all-female crew in the Isle of Wight JPMorgan Asset Management Round The Island yacht race, the Bestival sponsored girls from the Isle Of Wight College, crossed the start line alongside an incredible 1,587 other yachts.

Travis triumphs in Bowls showdown
- In an incredible achievement, the IW under 18s open bowls championship has been won eleven year old Travis Meller. Travis, a pupil at Lake Middle School, triumphed against a field of older and more experienced competitors in a gripping contest.
