Brading Town Promoted Brading Town Promoted
- Brading Town, after one of the most successful seasons in the club's history, has been promoted to the Premier Wessex league, after finishing third in Wessex Division 2. Roy Penney, Chairman, said " This is really great news for everyone associated with the club. Phil Moore, the manager, and his assistants, and all the players have done a fantastic job in finishing third in the league. They have also won the Gold Cup for the fourth time in the club's history. All the hard work done off the field in improving our ground has meant that, with just a few alterations to our changing rooms, we have the ground grading to play in the Wessex Premier Division." The top two teams failed to get promotion because their grounds were not up to the standards required. The hard work starts now, to make sure we have a team that can compete in the higher division, and we will also need to continue to improve our ground.

Brading Town FC, Chairman's Report Brading Town FC, Chairmans Report
- Wow! What a climax to one of the most successful seasons in the history of Brading Town FC. In the final week of the season we won the IW Gold Cup, when we defeated East Cowes Vics 3-2 in front of nearly 400 spectators at St George's Park Newport, many of whom came from Brading to support the team. With 8 minutes to go, we were 2-1 down but up popped Damien Rudd to equalise and with just two minutes left, man of the match Danny Hatcher scored a goal worthy of the FA Cup Final, to bring the cup back to Brading for the first time in 30 years. On the previous Saturday we had an excellent 1-0 away victory at Downton who were second in the league. This very important win set us up for our final league match at Vicarage Lane against Farnborough NE. We had a penalty in the 92nd minute which Ross Gregory duly converted. This enabled the club to finish third in the league and have a good chance of getting promotion to Wessex 1. Phil Moore and his management team of Paul Young, Steve Spillsbury, and Steve Lambourne, and all the players have done a fantastic job over the last two seasons. The same applies to our Reserve team manager Jason Carbin assisted by Steve Berry, and all the players who have won promotion to IW Division 1 and also won the IW Junior A cup defeating Ryde Saints 4-3 after being 2 goals down after 8 minutes. Congratulations also to Brading A manager Steve Rowe and his young team for winning the Combination 2 league. They won their last 9 games and were the top goal scorers in all the IW Leagues. The success was not only confined to the senior part of the club. Brading Town Colts also did well. Mark Cook's under 9 team won their league. They also won the Gurnard tournament. The under 8's were also successful and the under 10's reached the final. The under 11's and 12's both finished in the top half of their leagues.

IW Hockey Season Round-up by simon butler
- Isle of Wight 2nd XI – Sponsored by the IW Beacon Our 2006 season is over – we certainly had an interesting 22 games. We finished in 10th place in the Hampshire Open League 4th Division – which may sound disappointing, but we had this campaign down as a developmental’ year as we played several colt players – some of whom are just 14 years old in an adult league. But our results improved once we got to know each other’s styles. Our low point came with a 2-1 loss at Gosport – who lets just say had an umpire who we would not like to meet again! Our high point was beating leaders Winchester 3-2. They arrived expecting a big win, but we tunned them with a fully deserved victory wich cost them the title. Now, we take a few months off before regrouping again in August. This team will be back next year and we’re setting a target of finishing in the top five – which we now know we are capable of.
