- Its “All Change” and a new format this year, for the “Isle of Wight Austin’s” With the first Annual Rally in 1999 and continually held at the Steam Railway, Havenstreet, the new committee have decided to try something completely different. Austin Members across the UK were invited to attend a varied programme of weekend drive outs. The weekend began with an informal get together at the Chequers Inn, Rookley where all of the Owners were given an iternary of events which would allow them to view and experience more of the beauty and delights of the Island.

GIRLS HIP HOP NOW WELCOMES BOYS!!
- The girls hip hop set up initially as a six week trial has proved so successful that it is to get more funding to continue for a further six weeks and now is being opened up to boys. The weekly dance workshops that takes place at the church on the roundabout, has attracted girls not only from Newport but from other areas of the Island. If you are aged between 8-18 then come along on Mondays 5.00pm-6.40pm.

- The Lion’s Club of Sandown and Shanklin celebrated the 25th year of organising its Swimmarathon event by donating sponsor money to a record number of Charities. Six different Charities benefited at the awards presentation evening when the Club’s President Lion Helen Spencer shared over £3,000 between them.

- The Isle of Wight Military Museum, Northwood was the place to be this weekend for all military and wartime history enthusiasts, as the Museum opened the doors for its Annual weekend of family and military fuelled entertainment. Young and old alike enjoyed an impressive display of military vehicles and Tanks combined with Saracen rides. On Saturday evening the growing band of troops were to be entertained with Rock and Roll line up of Lucas and the Dynamos, The Spitfire's and Lonesome Valley Boys.

CHILDREN TO BENEFIT FROM UNIQUE FRIENDSHIP PROGRAMME
- A unique programme, which helps 7-11 year olds develop the necessary social skills to help them in their school and future life, has been developed by the Council’s behaviour support service for use by education staff in schools. The ‘There 4 U’ programme, which provides schools with a range of practical resources including a board game and themed worksheets is designed to promote a greater understanding of children’s friendship issues, collective problem solving and conflict management.

BEMBRIDGE FORT BEMBRIDGE FORT
- Bembridge Fort, which is owned by the National Trust, is situated on the highest point of Culver Down with superb views in all directions across the open countryside. It was built in 1862 to defend the eastern Solent against the threat of a French invasion – but the enemy never came and so it is known as one of ‘Palmerston’s follies’. During the First World War a cavalry unit was stationed there and during the Second World War all three armed forces had a presence.

The site allows radio hopefuls to upload there radio demo tapes and other work for critique from fellow members. CLUB HELPS DISABLED CHILDREN 'KEEP ON MOVING'
- A club to help young wheelchair users develop practical skills and develop a social network with other disabled youngsters is building on its success last year with the launch of another six week summer programme of activities. The 'Keep on Moving' club, which runs every Saturday from 17 June to 22 July from 11am-2pm is based at Downside Middle School and is coordinated and run by adult wheelchair users.

Team Cowes High School is celebrating
- Team Cowes High School is elated after their triumph of winning the Inspire High School Challenge for the second year in a row. The Cowes Team crossed the finish line at 17:36:46, in first position out of the four high schools and the Isle of Wight College taking part. The team were in overall 26th position out of the 40 boats taking part in the Sportsboat class in the 75th JP Morgan Asset Management – Round the Island Race 2006.
